Filter Paper
The oil filter requires higher filter paper than the air filter, mainly because the temperature of the oil varies from 0 to 300 degrees. Under severe temperature changes, the oil concentration also changes accordingly, which will affect the Filtered oil flow. The filter paper of the high-quality oil filter can filter impurities under a drastic temperature change to ensure sufficient flow.

Check valve
The role of the check valve is to prevent the oil in the filter from running dry, to ensure that the filter is full of oil at any time, and when the engine starts again, the oil can almost reach the engine body for lubrication.
Bypass valve
When the external temperature drops to a certain value or when the oil filter exceeds its normal service life, the bypass valve opens under a special pressure, allowing unfiltered oil to flow directly into the engine. In spite of this, the impurities in the oil will enter the engine, but it is much smaller than the loss caused by the absence of the engine oil. Therefore, the bypass valve is the key to protecting the engine in emergency situations.
Our current oil filters are basically this type of spin-on oil filters with oil inlet and oil outlet. The oil in the oil pan flows from the oil inlet check valve into the machine filter, and the dirty oil flows in. It is at the edge of the machine filter, the outside of the filter paper, and then filtered through the filter paper. The clean oil flows out from the center of the machine filter and is sprayed onto various parts of the engine.
However, the service life of the machine filter is mainly judged by its filtering ability, not its quality. If there are too many impurities and oil scales in the engine oil, it will adhere to the filter paper and block the filter holes, causing the oil pressure to become low, and let the engine oil with impurities enter the engine directly. This is equivalent to the engine oil not being filtered. It’s time to change the filter.
